Important Changes for 2020

With the a brand new golf shop staff the Board of Governors asks for your assistance in acclimating our new staff by following both established and new procedures.

Check in

  • Don't forget all golfers are required to check in at the pro shop before teeing off. This is both a liquor licensing and insurance requirement.
  • Cart keys will no longer be left in carts; you must check in to the shop to receive your key. Arrangements will be made for those who pick up a cart on the back nine.

Reminders

  • No outside food, beverages, or coolers (per PLCB and PA Ag)
  • Repair ball marks and divots
  • Knock sand off of shoes when leaving bunkers
  • Guests must be signed in either golf shop or clubhouse (per PLCB)
  • When you hear a siren, please seek shelter asap

Billing

  • The Club will now bill for the following services: Range, Bag Storage, and Push Cart Storage. You will need to sign up for these services again, even if you've had them in the past. Sign up with the Golf Shop. Availability for some storage options are limited.
  • Merchandise and Lessons will remain part of Sean's business, but if you choose to bill your purchases they will now appear on your Club bill. Any questions regarding these purchases should be directed to the Golf Shop, but details will be viewable online.
  • In summary: you will only receive one bill for all club and merchandise purchases beginning in March 2020.

Ambulance

  • Don't panic if you spot an ambulance parked in the lot. We are simply allowing the local ambulance service to park in the lot when they are on standby for calls.

From the Pro ~ March 2020

Dear Ligonier Country Club Members,

First and foremost, let me tell you know how excited and extremely fortunate to be selected as your Head Golf Professional. I would like to thank the Board of Directors and The Search Committee for this wonderful opportunity. I was born and raised in Latrobe, so it feels great to be back in the area. I started my professional career at Latrobe Elks Golf Club, moved on to Sewickley Heights Golf Club, eight years at The Pittsburgh Field Club and most recently at Edgewood Country Club as the First Assistant Golf Professional.

Along with myself there will be many new faces in the Golf Operation. Jesse Cantley will be my Assistant Professional and will be here starting March 10. Jesse comes from Edgewood Country Club as well as TopGolf in Bridgeville.

Golf Shop- Most of the merchandise will be delivered during the month of March so bear with me during the process of transitioning the golf shop. Golf merchandising has always been one of my favorite aspects of the job.

  • Members will receive 20% off retail on all apparel and accessory items
  • Demo product & a FlightScope launch monitor will all be available for all fittings
  • Online only sales featuring one of a kind unique product
  • A weekly newsletter will be emailed featuring upcoming events, sign up procedures, corporate specials and much more

Member Events & Clinics- A wide range of men’s, ladies, couples, and parent/junior events, men’s and ladies Golf Shop match play events and Fitting Days will be on hand. I will also conduct diverse golf clinics, women only clinics and an extensive junior golf program. We will also be hosting a wedge fitting day for the new Titleist SM8.  Fliers and information for these will be sent out very shortly.

Social Media- Please follow the golf shops Social Media on Instagram and Facebook for Swing Tips, Flash Sales, Promotions, Event Results and New Merchandise Arrivals.

  • Instagram- lccgolf1925
  • Facebook- Ligonier Golf Shop

Handicaps- The World Handicap System went into effect on January 1 and you should have received your new handicap index. Documents will be placed throughout the Golf Shop and bulletin boards with the changes. These changes will be in my first newsletter coming in March.

We look forward to meeting everyone, warm temperatures, lower scores and an outstanding 2020 FUN year at Ligonier Country Club

Warm Regards,

Sean Knaus, PGA

Ladies' Golf News ~ March 2020

The Ladies’ Golf Association is holding the season opening dinner on Tuesday, April 28 starting with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. We would invite all the lady members of the club to join us for a meet and greet. Reservations can be made by calling the Grill Room.ladies opening dinner

The new World Wide Handicap system is bringing many changes affecting play and scoring. Sean Knaus, our Pro, will be giving a presentation on the new system.  In addition, he will have a trunk show with new merchandise from B-Skinz skorts on display. There will be a 20% discount on purchases that night.

Opening play will start on Tuesday, May 5 at 10:00 a.m. with a scramble. No handicap is required, and we would encourage non-members to join in this fun event. Just call the Pro Shop to sign up.

We are excited about the changes for ladies’ play this year. The forward/orange tees now have a slope and course rating which means that you don’t have to play from the red tees on Ladies’ Tuesdays or any other day. We also have an active group of 9-hole players that has found golf to be fun again from the forward tees. Information about other golfing opportunities, such as weekend play, will be available at the dinner.

The Ligonier Country Club Ladies Golf Association (LCCLGA) is a not-for-profit organization formed to promote and foster the true spirit of the game of golf, and to create and maintain interest in the club and golf activities for women.

It is the intention of the Association to encourage a friendly environment for members, regardless of level of play.  LCCLGA offers both a Tuesday 18-hole and 9-hole calendar of golf events for those who golf from May to September.

Lunch is encouraged following golf to share a few laughs and a few golf tales with your fellow Association members!

If you are interested in joining or learning more about the Ladies’ Golf Association, please feel free to contact one of the Board Members: Darlene Elliott, Melane Baraniak, JoAn Treskovich, Carolyn Morford or Barbara Sloan.

Welcome Sean!

It is with great pleasure that I let you know that Sean Knaus has formally  accepted our offer to become Head Golf Professional of Ligonier Country Club.

Sean comes to us from Edgewood Country Club, having also spent time at Pittsburgh Field Club. We'll let him tell you more about himself once he's settled in.

Once again, thank you to Dave Smail and Kristen Obush for leading the search effort, and to the members of our search committee for all their hard work.

We have a great team in place to move us forward in the coming year and into the future. With new key leadership in Jim Born and Sean, along with our great GM and established team, I am more confident than ever that the best days for Ligonier Country Club are ahead of it, and the recent changes that have been made will be a big reason for that.
