Pumpkin Par 3 Winners

The Pumpkin Par 3 was contested last Saturday the 26th, we had rain that held off until after the shotgun was done.

Unfortunately, no one hit the Hole In One for $5,000 but all were pleased although not richer.

We did a blind draw that netted us two winning teams:

1st Stan Treskovich, Karen Hough, Janet Barker and Bob Hamilton

2nd Place-Steve Meyers, Shari Shannon, Rick Shannon and Denise Smail.

Proximity winners were: Jim Morford 2 times, Karen Murphy, Carolyn Morford, Ron Shannon and Robin Giunta.

Thank all that played for your support throughout the year!

LGA News ~ November 2019

Ladies’ Association News

After two years of rainouts, the closing day scramble was played on October 1 under warm sunny skies.

Teams were formed by integrating the 18-hole and 9-hole players.

The team of Enis Cassill, Carolyn Morford, Barbara Sloan and Pat Warren won with a net 69. Two teams tied at net 70. After a card playoff, Darlene Elliott, Robin Guinta, Hollis Hall, and Usha Singh placed second. Coming in third was the team of Mary Lu Lovette, Suzanne Lynch, Karen Murphy, and JoAn Treskovich. Proximities were set up for 18-hole and 9-hole players. Winners were Karen Murphy, Usha Singh, JoAn Treskovich (closest to the pin) and Mary Ann McGinnis, Barbara Sloan, Mary Lu Lovette and Dottie Lynch (longest drive).

An antique home themed dinner, planned by Darlene Elliott, was enjoyed by all. A brief business meeting was held at the end of the evening.   The slate of officers announced  for the 2020 season are Darlene Elliott, President, Melane Baraniak and JoAn Treskovich as co-chair Vice-Presidents, Carolyn Morford, Treasurer, and Barbara Sloan, Golf Chair and Secretary. It was agreed that pushing the start of the season forward by two weeks and adding two weeks on to the end of the season was a positive change in 2019 and should be repeated next year.  Melane Baraniak raised the issue of making a contribution to the green restoration fund. A decision on this was delayed to next year pending a review of the Association’s financial situation.

Thanks to all the event organizers that contributed to a great golf season for all of us.

Chili 2019 Winners Chili 2019 2nd place

From the Pro ~ October 2019

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

Several fun events remain on the schedule please don’t think about putting your clubs away…

Chili Classic, Saturday October 5th-The golf event will begin with a Noon Shotgun start, followed by dinner and Awards Night coupled with some great surprises.  As printed in the e-news you may have guests, you may plan your group, or you can sign up as a single.  This is open to all members and guests. The Chili will be served prior to the start of golf (starting at 11am), which will enable the pace of play to go faster.  WARNING-we play without regard to the elements, rain, shine, sleet, or snow (however I don’t think snow is in the forecast this year as of today mid-60’s).  This year we will also have Hole-In-One Prizes on every Par 3, they will include $1000 Callaway Gift Card, a 4Day/3Night Trip To Bay Hill, a 3day/2night trip to any NFL-NBA-NHL-MLB game of your choice, and a Trip to next year’s PGA Championship in San Francisco.  Come on out and enjoy the festivities!!!

Pumpkin Par 3-The Third Annual PP3 will take place on Saturday the 26th of October starting with a Noon Shotgun.  Teams can be set up thru the Golf Shop or as always you can make your own.  Tees will be set up as all par 3’s and handicaps will be reduced accordingly for this 9-hole event.

The 5 Person Scramble was held on Sunday September 1st- Fantastic weather and yummy doughnuts greeted the 90 player field.  The course played awesome as always and the 2 pins on 6 holes was the highlight of this always fun day.  Of course, there were winners too: Gross-1st Pete Dasta-Dave Strauser-BJ Torau-Joe Rex-T. Jorgenson.  2nd Dave Dillman-Bob Jackson-Jim Strong-Alexa Strong-Mike Byers.  Net winners were 1st-Tom Conn-Beau Conn-Sandy Sarni-Vin Sarni-Mike Kusma.  2nd Place-Terry Lee-Terry Warren-Joe Griffith-Mike Goerlich-Chris Antonikas.  Proximity winners were:  Kristen Obush, Rhiannon Ray, Steve Hopley, Chris Antonikas, Terry Warren, Steve Meyers and Vin Sarni.  Once again Thank you to all that participated in this fun event.

Sharpen the saw over the Winter- every spring as golfers we come out and do some stretches and think “I am ready to play good golf.”  Do yourself a favor and start your stretching program now in October it will pay dividends in March of 2020.  If you are not sure where to begin here are some helpful tips: 1-search your TV, many TVs are now equipped with special workout videos.  2-the local gym or Ligonier Valley YMCA will be a great place to look for classes or a personal trainer (Adam Brown).  3-the local library would be a great place to check out a book or a video.   If you begin now and continue thru the winter you will be in much better shape to play the game of a lifetime.

The Golf Shop has a few things happening in the near future that all Members should know:

  • The Practice Range will close on Sunday October 20th.
  • Practice Range Sunday-the practice range Sunday October 6th, 13th, will close at 3pm.
  • Credit in the Golf Shop must be used by Sun. Nov 10th. We have a great selection of soft goods for both Ladies and Men including warm weather gear.  Cathy has just received several shipments of Ladies garments that will ready you for cool nights wherever your travels take you this fall or winter.
  • The Golf Shop, Bag Storage, and Locker Rooms will not be open any Monday thru October or November.
  • Beginning Tuesday Oct the 15th, the Golf Shop will open at 9am on weekdays of Tuesday thru Friday. The Golf Shop will open @ 7:30am on weekends.
