Welcome Sean!

It is with great pleasure that I let you know that Sean Knaus has formally  accepted our offer to become Head Golf Professional of Ligonier Country Club.

Sean comes to us from Edgewood Country Club, having also spent time at Pittsburgh Field Club. We'll let him tell you more about himself once he's settled in.

Once again, thank you to Dave Smail and Kristen Obush for leading the search effort, and to the members of our search committee for all their hard work.
We have a great team in place to move us forward in the coming year and into the future. With new key leadership in Jim Born and Sean, along with our great GM and established team, I am more confident than ever that the best days for Ligonier Country Club are ahead of it, and the recent changes that have been made will be a big reason for that.

Welcome Jim!

The Board and Management are excited to welcome new Greens Superintendent, Jim Born.

Jim has a strong background in grounds maintenance, serving the area for 27 years.

We look forward to seeing what Jim's experience and knowledge bring to our course.

A Message from Bill

I would like to take the opportunity to thank John, Kathy, Brian and Sara for all their hard work, dedication, and friendship at Ligonier Country Club. Please join me in wishing them nothing but the best in their future endeavors.

Change has the ability to reinforce the ties that bind a group, and I have no doubt that this will show the strength of the LCC family. I will be asking you to welcome the new members of our management team in the new year. I have no doubt they will receive your full welcome.

Thank you for your continued support and patience during the recent and incoming transitions.  I know that we will continue to move forward with your backing of myself and the staff here at LCC.

My staff and I are anticipating an exciting new year as we march on towards Ligonier Country Club’s 100th year anniversary, just 5 years away. I hope that you will be there with me when we mark a century of great golf and great people in the Ligonier valley.

Bill Elliott, General Manager

From the Board and Pro

Dear Members:

It is with mixed emotions that I must notify you that John Klinchock, our Head Golf Professional has submitted his resignation
effective December 1, 2019.

John has accepted a position elsewhere in a similar role. On behalf of the Board and the entire membership of Ligonier Country Club, I want to express our sincere thanks to John for 22 years of dedicated service to all the members and their guests who came into contact with John during that time. We will all miss John and Cathy as they move on to a new chapter in their lives, and it will be a tough challenge to replace their humor, good-natured approach and warm smiles for all.  They are wonderful people, and I am sure you will join me in wishing them all the best wherever their paths may lead.  Ligonier Country Club is certainly a better place because of their time here, and we will remember them fondly.

John himself says, his letter below is short and sweet but does not convey how much he will miss Ligonier CC:

"Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
I wish to inform you that Cathy and I are resigning our Professional position from Ligonier Country Club.
Our 22 years here are filled with memories of great joy and friendships that will last a lifetime. We will always treasure our time spent with all of you and will never forget all the good times and smiles throughout the years.
We feel that in our absence Bill Elliott, Bobbie Jo Farrell, Beth Porter along with all the current and past board members will continue to do outstanding work as they lead Ligonier towards its 100th year anniversary.
Thank you for all of your continued support of Your Local PGA Pro, his Family, and Staff throughout the years.
The Golf Shop will continue to be open thru the remainder of November.

All the Very Best,
  John, Cathy, Sara, and Brian"

You may be wondering “what happens next?”.

We are already moving forward with a search committee chaired by David Smail that will include some Board members and golf members; and we will keep you informed as that process continues. We expect to name a replacement in the first quarter of 2020, so the new person will be on board well before next golf season.

As John stated in his last newsletter, Golf Shop credit reverted to zero November 5th and he asked that everyone in bag storage would please have your bags, clubs, push carts, and club runners out by the end of November for cleaning, painting, and general maintenance. This will also assist us in the incoming transition, and we will keep you up-to-date over the winter.

We remain convinced that we can attract many qualified applicants and we are sure that we will be able to find a qualified PGA Professional who can help move Ligonier Country Club forward as we approach our Centennial year and who will fit our stated mission to be “A Great Course with Great People.”

John Klinchock certainly helped us toward that end, and we will continue to build on his legacy.
