From the Pro ~ June 2019

Although April and May continued to be unstable weather months we showed growth in rounds over last year.  We anticipate a great Summer from now thru the end of the September. 

June and July Events:

Mens’ Invitational- June 6th-7th-8th. Look for your information on times and events on the website.

Friday-Sunday 11th-16th Fathers Day Sale Dice Sale- The sale will consist of 1 dice table and 9 die, once you have picked out your soft good purchase then you roll the dice to see your savings.  The least you can receive is 25%, but the most you may receive is 54%.  This sale is on all soft goods, Men’s Apparel, Ladies Apparel, and Youth Apparel.  Soft goods consist of shirts, hats, sweaters, and fleece (shoes, clubs and balls are not included).  Free Gift Wrapping will be available on sale days for all your purchases.  Come out and try your luck!!!!! 

Sunday 16th Annual Fathers Day Event-once again we look forward to a nice field for this fantastic bonding event. This is truly a fun day that you and your family can bond and spend some nice time together.  Play will be off the first tee, with tee-times assigned by the Golf Shop, we do honor requests that day of playing companions or we can pair you with another twosome.  You must pre-sign up for this event in the Golf Shop prior to Thursday at noon, due to heavy participation the day has become a very busy.  The event will be Callaway (using Callaway scoring system) Total of 2 for winners in both Net and Gross divisions.   These simple events allow everyone to have fun without a handicap and especially without any pressure.

Tuesday July 2nd Ladies Guest Day-Registration will begin at 8am followed by a 9am Shotgun start with Lunch to follow, this is continually the highlight of the schedule for the Ladies Golf Season. The sign-up sheet will be in the locker room please sign in with your guest’s names and course where handicap can be verified.  I personally guarantee that everyone will have a great time!!!  You must be registered prior to Tuesday June 25th.

July 13th and 14th Member-Member –A grand 2 day event which is the highlight of the team year! Choose your partner and sign up in the Golf Shop or we will make every attempt to pair you with another Member.   Shotgun starts on Saturday and Sunday 9:15 both days.  Please watch the newsletter for your invitation.   Saturday’s format will be Scotch Foursomes with combined half handicap, Sundays event will be Best Ball of 2.

The Red Solo Cup Open will be played on Saturday June 22nd, it is a 9 hole par 3 event with on course beer tasting and the band WIZDOM WORLD BEAT Reggae band following play. Play will begin with at 4:00pm with prizes and surprises throughout the round.  You may bring guests and can sign up with a 2, 3, or 4some.  There will be proximity prizes on every hole including long putts and closest to the pins.  No prizes for awarded for low score which means that there is no pressure.

Laurel Interclub Tuesday June 18th- we need 8 players to play here to represent against the other area clubs.  The first event of the year was played at Westmoreland CC and although the golf course was wet I believe that everyone had a wonderful golf day.  We started the year with interchangeable teams of 12 players plus the Golf Professional however we have since paired the groups down to 8 players and the Professional.  Please sign up in the Golf Shop.

Wednesday July 17th Men’s Stag-The Stag will start with an lunch at 11:30 am, followed by a shotgun start at 1pm. The golf as always is followed by a superb dinner made by Chef Jessica and his fantastic staff.  Presentation of prizes will follow the dinner in a timely fashion.  This is a great way to entertain clients and friends on a small budget.  The cost of the event includes golf for your guest, cart fee, lunch, dinner, and prizes.

Other Golf Shop happenings:

The 2019 Senior Championship was recently held and Joe Corsi and Carolyn Morford were the overall Champions. Group 50-60 Billy Fowler Low Gross 79 and Art Hoopes Low Net 63.  Group 61-70 Joe Corsi 72, Bill Hough 77 and Ken MCcracken 77 Low Net was Mark Elliott 70 and Chris Kerr 71.  71+ Low Gross Paul Zanotto 80 and Low Net Mike Goerlich 69.  In the Ladies division Carolyn Morford Gross Champion and Low Net Champion was Holly Hall.

The Spring Member Guest was held this past Friday and great golf was accompanied by the best weather day of the year. Low Net Teams were 1st Patrick Wallace Sean Haines Todd Pierce and Todd Cline, 2nd Mike Grados Jim Frank Mike Lancia and Larry Ott, 3rd Jackie Elliott Jack Moyher Denise Smail and Sara Distefinas.  Low Gross winners were the team of Dave Gilbert Don Gilbert Scott Green and Todd Green.  We also had a huge group of proximity winners, Pat Mclaughlin-Jeff Berkey-Patrick Wallace-Kevin Stiffler-Ed Elliott-Keith Visconti-Ken Zeleznik-Ed Elliott-Jim Vizzini-Mike Lancia-Matt Love-Scott Jendras.  The winner of the free Golf Membership was Joe Torrero.  Congratulations to everyone!

The US OPEN. The Golf Shop will be having a pool to help peak interest in the National Open festivities.  For $10 you get to pick your players, they are as follows: a European player, a US born player, and a world player.  Don’t worry it is much easier than how it reads.

The Practice Range –the tee is now being cut 2 times per week to ensure better conditions when you go to practice. The range will close for scheduled weekly cutting starting at 5pm on Sunday evening and remain closed until Monday at 9am.

Guest Policy- When bringing a guest to our club please remind them of our policy of dress to alleviate any uncomfortable situations. As the presenting member you are solely responsible for your guest’s actions during their visit to our facility.  Players without the proper attire will not be allowed to play.  You may review this or any other policy on the website.

Golf’s a complicated game-if you are having a hard time hitting the ball, doing the same thing every time getting the same results, it may be time for a lesson with some physical assessments or new equipment. Problems with both can lead to erratic results.  Come see your Golf Professional.
