Ladies' Golf News - June 2023
May was not kind to us.
Opening day, May 2, was cancelled due to unseasonable weather. Down jackets, earmuffs and mittens are not the usual attire for playing golf. May 3 was not better, with six inches of snow in the mountains.
May 8 was cancelled due to the water system repairs. The Mystery Game scheduled for that date will now be played on May 31 as the decision to close the Club has been reversed. Those results will be reported in July due to the newsletter deadline.
We finally gathered on May 16 to play Survivor. This gadget was at base a putting contest with the survivor being the person with the fewest putts on the last hole without a tie. Three teams played and the winners on each team were: Karen Hough, JoAn Treskovich, and Barbara Sloan.
No Strings Attached was the game on May 23. Each player pulled a string from a box. Any putt inside the length of the string was conceded as holed. Given that some players had very long strings and others got short ones, it was decided that ringers would not be recorded.
There was a three-way tie at net 72: JoAn Treskovich, Denise Smail and Cindy Bode.
Important events this month include:
King & Queens on June 13. Three Queens play with a King. The best net score of Queens plus the King’s score is used for each team’s total.
Friend’s Day on June 20. Each member may invite up to three guests and are responsible for the cart fee and lunch.
Please sign up in the Pro Sho for the events.
Those new to golf or aging out of the red tees are encouraged to use the forward orange tees whether playing eighteen or nine holes.
