Ladies' Golf News ~ March 2023

Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter, but it seems that we will be golfing this month.

The Executive Board met on February 22 to map out our schedule.  We will begin play on Tuesday, May 2, with the traditional opening scramble.  Please sign up in the Pro Shop by Saturday, April 29, so Sean Knaus can make up the teams.

The opening dinner will be on Thursday, April 20.   Cocktails will be at 5:00 p.m. and dinner at 6:00 p.m. Please sign up in the Pro Shop if you plan to attend.  Members are encouraged to pay dues, set at $65.00, and the season booklet will be available.   If not attending the dinner, dues can be paid in the Pro Shop.

Tuesday, April 25 will be a no gadget warmup day.

LCC members, who are not members of the Ladies Golf Association, are invited to play on the warmup day and opening day scramble and/or to join us for dinner on April 20.  These events are opportunities to learn about our activities.  Even if you work and cannot play on Tuesdays, there is a way your weekend play can allow you to compete in events.  We have both 18-hole and 9-hole groups and use both the red and orange tees so there is something for all abilities. Plus, we have set tees times for Thursdays and the weekend so you can always find a group to play with.

Once again, we will not have an invitational.  Member may bring up to three guests for Friends Day. There will be a cart fee charge for each guest, and you will be responsible for the lunch.  Friends Day will be on June 20.

Other important dates to mark in your calendar:

  • King & Queens: June 13
  • Queen Bee and Lady Bug: July 11 and 18
  • Ladies Classic: August 8
  • Closing Day: October 3

Our schedule will be impacted by Memorial Day and July 4 holidays. Memorial Day is on Monday, May 29, and the club will be closed on Tuesday, May 30.  The July 4 holiday is on Tuesday, and the club will be open for holiday play on both Monday, July 3, and Tuesday, July 4.

If you are a full golfing member of the club and have a handicap index of 21.4 or less, you could be eligible to join the Women's Golf Association of Western PA.  Membership affords you the opportunity to play in events or open days at many of the Country Clubs in the Western PA area.  For more information, please contact Carolyn Morford at This email address is being protected from spambots.
